THE CLIENT
Yuasa is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of lead-acid batteries with global manufacturing plants and an extensive marketing and distribution network throughout the UK and Europe.
THE BRIEF
In 2006, RUMM was invited to implement its energy management scheme at Yuasa’s Ebbw Vale plant which employs over 300 people.
THE PLAN
With a total of 35 electricity, gas, water and steam meters in operation, RUMM implemented changes to the compressor and extraction systems, along with a site switch-off procedure.
These measures, in particular helped to dramatically reduce weekend energy consumption, and meant that tangible results were seen in just 6 weeks, by which point Yuasa had already seen a return on their investment.
The predicted £1m saving over 3 years has in fact risen to a staggering £4m since RUMM’s energy management solutions were implemented.
WHY IT WORKED
From executive level through to the plant floor, RUMM involved everyone at Yuasa in the process, ensuring RUMM’s blue-print for energy and environmental savings was a success.
“RUMM has yielded a substantial saving to our energy bill.
We have found their approach both professional and well-informed with any requests being followed up by a timely response.”
