CHAIRMAN OF WELSH ENERGY MANAGEMENT COMPANY RECEIVES OBE

Eric J Lewis, chairman of RUMM (Remote Utility Monitoring & Management), has been given an OBE from the Queen in this year’s Birthday Honours list.

Born in Merthyr in 1948, Eric Lewis, 62, has remained passionate about Wales throughout his working life, bringing opportunity and investment to the area whenever he could.

Eric joined RUMM in 2009 as Group Chair and equity shareholder. Prior to this role, Eric spent his entire career in industrial companies, including 12 years at Hoover in Merthyr and positions at Lucas Automotive and AB Electronics.  Eric officially retired in March 2009 as Chief Executive Officer of Doncasters Group Ltd.

Prior to joining Doncasters he was also an Executive Director on the board of Meggit PLC, a UK FTSE 250 company and is also Chairman of Premium Aircraft Interior Group (PAIG) – a role that he has come out of retirement to fulfil.

Eric’s key achievements in Wales include taking sales at Doncasters from a low of £280m following the tragedies of 9/11, to £900m in 2008, as well as constructing a new facility and securing substantial grants from the Welsh Assembly Government to ensure the company’s growth.
